Traditional Recurve Bows
Greg and Vivian were so inspired by their love for Traditional Recurve Bows that they have created their own business. Specializing in making the highest quality custom handcrafted Traditional Bows at Smokey River Bows. The traditional recurve bow have limb tips that curve away from the archer when the bow is strung. This design allows a traditional recurve bow to store more energy and delivers energy more efficiently than an equivalent straight-limbed bow, giving a greater amount of energy and speed to the arrow.
A Little Recurve Background
A tranditional recurve bow limbs will put greater strain on the materials used to make the bow than their longbow counterparts. They may make more noise with the shot because the bow string contacts the end of the limbs . At Smokey River Bows.com we make our traditional recurve bows with an option for wider limbs for durability, strength and quietness. We can laminate multiple layers of wood, carbon and fiberglass to creating unbelievable speed. The greater mass of our traditional recurve bows does in itself an aid to stability, and therefore to accuracy. The riser ( center section of the bow) is generally separate and is constructed from exotic hardwoods. The term ‘riser’ is used because, in a one piece bow, the center section rises from the limbs in a taper to spread the stress. The Traditional Recurve Bows as well as the other Smokey River Bows carry a Lifetime Warranty for the Original Owner. If you have any questions please contact Customer Service
