A friend of ours came to me last summer and wanted to know if we made Custom Rifle Stocks. He explained that his Sig Sauer 30/06 Rifle had a stock black stock and he wanted something different. He told to me what he had in mind and I set out to make him a custom rifle stock out of Walnut and Osage Orange. Having never made a stock before I was apprehensive about attempting the project but started it anyway. Turned out to be easier that I thought. We used the same air dried Walnut that we use for the bows and had the Osage Orange furnished by the owner Chris. This being my first attempt it turned out quite well. Learned how to hand checker which turned out to be harder than it looks. Took the stock with me to Gun Shows and Archery Shoots so in the slow periods I could work on the checkering. Most important Chris is happy with it and has received several compliments on the stock. The biggest compliment came to me on New Years Day that he had harvested a deer at 400 yards using the stock that I had made for him.
